Privacy Policy

1. Summary: FieldWitness is built for on-device privacy

FieldWitness does not require an account. We do not operate a cloud service that stores your project photos or inspection reports.

Your projects, photos, notes, and generated reports are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad unless you export or share them using iOS features.

2. Information stored on your device

When you use the FieldWitness app, the following data is stored locally on your device:

• Project details (project ID, client name, inspector, notes, and custom fields)
• Photos you capture in the app or import with FieldWitness Pro
• Unwatermarked originals and stamped copies
• Inspection notes and observation text
• Generated PDF reports and export files (CSV, KML, KMZ)
• App preferences such as watermark settings and file naming presets
• SHA-256 fingerprints used for local integrity verification

3. Permissions the app requests

FieldWitness requests access only to features needed for field documentation:

• Camera — to capture field evidence photos inside the app.
• Location (While Using the App) — to attach coordinates, address, altitude, accuracy, and compass direction to new captures when available.

You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. If location is disabled, FieldWitness can still capture photos without GPS context.

4. Information we do not collect through the app

FieldWitness is configured without third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app. We do not:

• Require you to create an account
• Upload your photos or project data to FieldWitness servers
• Track you across other companies' apps or websites
• Sell your personal information

5. Purchases and subscription services

FieldWitness Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore entitlements, and manage Pro access. RevenueCat may receive an anonymous device identifier and purchase receipt data necessary to confirm your entitlement.

Payment information is handled by Apple, not by FieldWitness directly. Please review Apple's privacy policy for details about payment processing.

6. When you choose to share data

Data leaves your device only when you take action—for example, when you use the iOS share sheet to send a PDF, photo, or export file by email, messaging app, cloud storage, or AirDrop.

Imported photos use their embedded EXIF metadata (date, GPS, and camera details) when available. FieldWitness clearly labels imported photos and does not present them as in-app captures.

7. Support and feedback

If you contact us at hi@codemxm.com, we receive the information you include in your message. If you choose to attach diagnostic details when sending feedback, that may include device model, iOS version, and app version to help us troubleshoot.

We use support messages only to respond to your request and improve the product.

8. Website analytics

This website may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (such as page views and referrers). The website does not access your FieldWitness app data.

Analytics on this site are separate from the app and do not include your project photos or inspection content.

9. Data retention and deletion

App data remains on your device until you delete it within FieldWitness or remove the app from your device. Deleting the app removes locally stored projects and photos unless you have copied them elsewhere.

Support emails are retained only as long as needed to handle your request.

10. Children's privacy

FieldWitness is a professional field documentation tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. International users

FieldWitness is developed by CodeMXM. Because your project data stays on your device, you maintain direct control over where your evidence files are stored and shared.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold from support correspondence. Contact us at hi@codemxm.com to make a request.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date above.

Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
